Wow.  I'm such a failure.  I haven't updated in so long.  But that's not the point.

So.  Auditions for A Midsummer Night's Dream were today, right?  And when mom picks Kelly and I up, it's not, "How was your day, girls?"  It's not, "How were auditions?"  No.  It's, "Lauren, you dress like a slut."  Basically.

It was all gross and muggy and disgusting outside today, so I wore two tanks to school instead of a regular shirt.  It was still, however, apparently inappropriate for school.

So fourth hour, I'm a teacher's assistant, and I was just sort of walking in the hallway on the way back from the bathroom.  No pass or anything.  I stopped and talked to a dean's assistant, and do you think he said anything about what I was wearing?  Not even.  It wasn't like he and I are good friends so he would have felt bad about busting me.  It's because what I was wearing met the freaking guidelines that they gave us.  None of the teachers all day said anything either, so it's not like it was this one guy.

Apparently, if something shows my collar bone it's just far too much skin.  Expletive.  Maybe I should just start wearing a freaking burkha.

Fwa?  Again?  *sigh*  Alright...

Nah, jk though.  For those lame kids who don't know, Godspell has been going decently well.  Nobody's dead yet, which is a plus (although we could make an exception in Ryan's case...)  Oh, and next summer we're totally taking it on the road!  *score*  If you haven't already, come see it.  If you have...well, come see it again!

After the show last night, we all went and hung out @ Chile's, which was quite fun.  We pretty much took up an entire wall once everyone was there.  Apart from teh cast, teh pit, and Mr. and Mrs. C (director + esposa), Slick's padres and *brother?* were there, along with Al and Paul and Matt.  I learned what "nictate" was from Paul and Matt (Paul explained, Matt demonstrated).  Btw, to nictate is to flirt with the eyebrows.  Or something like that.  There was all sorts of fun conversations, too.  Let's see...Power Rangers, Transformers, Yu Gi Oh / Pokemon, knives, crazy roomies, Teletubbies, etc.  And we played the "50's Words" game.  We had golly, swell, jinkies (slightly cheater, I know), gee willikers, and some others, I think.  If you have more, do tell.

And that was quite honestly the biggest bill I have ever seen for food.  It was originally over $200, but Mr. C works there as a side job so we got a discount, and it ended up being around $180.  I tell you, it was crazy.  Maybe to some of you, it's not a lot, but I sure thought so.  My vote is, if a food bill needs three numbers before the decimal point, it's too much.  Granted, we were a lot of people.  25-ish, maybe?  Something like that.  Oh well.  Good times.  We should all do it again.

Stupid thing won't let me put up icons.

Child of the wilderness
Born into emptiness
Learn to be lonely
Learn to find your way in darkness

Who will be there for you
Comfort and care for you
Learn to be lonely
Learn to be your one companion

Never dreamed out in the world
There are arms to hold you
You’ve always known your heart was on its own

So laugh in your loneliness
Child of the wilderness
Learn to be lonely
Learn how to love life that is lived alone

Learn to be lonely
Life can be lived, life can be loved alone

Ugh

This is going to be ridiculously short b/c it's late and I still have crap to do.  So, what's new?

Mmm, made a new friend at VanderCook.  But he lives in Missouri.  Bummerus draggerus majorus, I believe the term is.

Um, upcoming two weeks are going to suck me dry, what with Godspell and then band camp.  Wait for it...who still doesn't have their music memorized?  Ooooooh yeeeeeeeeeah...

So basically, posting b/c I haven't in a million years and I felt bad about it.  Oh well.  Say hi in a comment!!!  :)

Where are you going?
Where are you going?
Can you take me with you?
For my hand is cold and needs warmth
Where are you going?

If I actually said to her what I want to say, do you realize how much trouble I'd get in?  What's the point in talking to her if she won't listen?  Oh, she hears it all right, but doesn't really listen to what I'm trying to say.  Don't like the way the conversation's going?  Turn away and focus on something else, like the friggin TV.  Still not working?  "There's nothing to talk about."  "Be quiet."  (You get the point.)  Realize that with any normal person, I would have won the argument by now?  Get louder and attack me instead of the point I'm trying to make!  They're always harping on us about being respectful and all that crap. 'Do as I say, not as I do', hm?  How about taking your own stupid advice?  I kind of wish I were the swearing type.  What is it about a word that makes you feel better?  Why doesn't repeating "spork" over and over have the same effect as doing the same with "goddammit"?  Is it just because it's been drilled in since childhood that it's a bad word?  Sort of a forbidden fruit kind of thing?

AND SHE DOESN'T REALIZE THAT THAT'S WHAT SHE'S MAKING THIS INTO!!!  By restricting something, you only make it more desired.  It doesn't take a genius to figure that one out.  Chris, I love you dearly.  But to everyone else in the world, I'm not him.  She automatically thinks I'm going to be making the same mistakes, just because I should happen to take an interest in the same thing as my brother.

I'm probably giving myself cancer as I sit here.  Bad emotions and toxins and whatnot.  Truth, that.  I read about it.  If you're upset about something and don't release the frustration in some way, your body starts releasing toxins or something.  Fun story.

She likes to think she's this uber-lefty liberal and is positive she has the solution to every political problem there is.  The problem is, she isn't.  And she doesn't.  If you should happen to disagree with her and attempt to point this out in a calm, civilized manner using actual facts as opposed to that shit spewed off Air America (the worst AM talk show in the history of lefty radio talk shows), then you're obviously siding with them.  Be prepared to get yelled at in a manner that the situation didn't even come close to meriting.

I should really learn how to meditate or something.  Yoga.  I don't know.  I don't care.

5-6-7-8!!!

5.  We're mixing things up here.  True to the title, we'll just do 5, 6, 7, and 8.  Just for kicks.
6.  I have a burnt patch of skin that kinda looks like a butterfly.  Huh.
7.  I may be a heathen, but Lanna was adopted on accident.  So there.
8.  I like Heath bars.  I mean, who thought of combining chocolate and toffee?  BRILLIANT!!!  And those guys on the...what?  Guinness?  Well, the guys on those beer commercials make me laugh.

Except the heaven had come so near,
So seemed to choose my door,
The distance would not haunt me so;
I had not hoped before.

But just to hear the grace depart
I never thought to see
Afflicts me with a double loss;
'Tis lost, and lost to me.
